Martina Mlinarević at IUS: Speak Out Loud with Huzur

On Tuesday, April 9, 2019, renowned author and journalist Martina Mlinarević Sopta promoted her book “Huzur” in the crowded amphitheater of International University of Sarajevo (IUS).

The audience was delighted to hear Martina talking about her experiences as well as about the making of book “Huzur”. IUS as a partaker in the project EU Systemic Action for Gender Equality in higher education, with the aim to empower both women and men, decided to invite Martina Mlinarević Sopta, as a prominent woman from our community and public life, to spread powerful, motivating and encouraging ideas.

On today’s book promotion, Martina said: “I think that it is extremely important in Bosnia and Herzegovina to speak out loud about any topic because we are very quiet about everything. I am here today for my book Huzur which talks about the past year in my life and my fight with the breast cancer, and that is exactly the thing which I did not want to be quiet about and sweep everything under the rug.”

Martina conveyed the message to all women to have regular medical checkups and care about their health, and that nothing is taboo when it is related to health.

“In our institutional Gender equality plan, among the required activities is also promotion of role model and empowering behavior patterns. We think that Martina was a perfect choice for the coach and living example of an empowered woman who can encourage all young academicians, students, to speak out loud”, said the project coordinator dr. Emin Tahirović.

After the lecture, a Q&A session was organized where visitors, from IUS and the guests, had a chance to talk with Martina. After the event, the author also signed the book copies for her numerous fans.
